Wonderful music and warm applause crowned the ninth Zermatt Festival on Sunday 15 September. On the final weekend, there were performances by the soprano Mojca Erdmann, baritone Stephan Genz, the pianist Christian Zacahrias, and Michel Fabrizio Chiovetta Dalberto, the violinist Guy Braunstein, cellist Nicolas Altstaedt, the Scharoun Ensemble Berlin and the students of Zermatt Festival Academy, all of whom made for unforgettable musical experiences. In addition to the Classical programme, the first series of jazz concerts contributed to the success of this Zermatt Festival. The Latitudes trio of trumpeter Pascal Walpen and the bands of the pianists Olivier Magarotto and Marc Perrenoud provided beautiful and varied moments during this ninth festival.
Even though we are still enjoying looking back on all these moments, we can also look forward to next year when the Zermatt Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary. From 5 to 21 September 2014 we will once again welcome renowned ensembles and exceptional artists to the Matterhorn village. Our guests for the opening concert will be the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie conducted by Christopher Hogwood from Britain. The programme of festivities will be revealed on our website in the winter.
Many thanks to all the artists, sponsors and partners and our loyal audience for a wonderful Zermatt Festival 2013!
