Chamber Music Academy

The sixth international Zermatt Festival Chamber Music Academy will take place from the 6th to the 19th of September 2010, and so continues an old tradition: as long as 50 years ago, Pablo Casals held summer concerts and masterclasses along with other famous musicians of the day, here in Zermatt.

Since then, the academy has become one of the most renowned chamber music master courses on the international music scene. Again this year, 30 highly gifted young musicians from all over the world will come to Zermatt. In a variety of chamber music groups, they will rehearse under the direction of members of the Berliner Philharmoniker. The students, together with the Scharoun Ensemble, form the Zermatt Festival Orchestra.

You can hear the results of this highly intensive rehearsal period in a series of concerts from the 14th to the 16th of September and in the closing concert on the 19th of September.

The rehearsals are also open to the public – information about times can be obtained from Zermatt Tourism from 8 September 2010.
