Die von Fritz Näf gegründeten Basler Madrigalisten singen in verschiedensten Formationen, solistisch und als klein besetztes Vokalensemble. Das umfangreiche Repertoire reicht von der frühen Renaissance bis zur Neuzeit. Schwerpunkte ihrer Arbeit sind das Einstudieren und (Erst) Aufführungen von zeitgenössischen Werken und die Wiederaufführung von Werken aus dem 15. bis 18. Jahrhundert.
Die Basler Madrigalisten nahmen an den wichtigsten Musikfestivals der Welt teil. Konzerttourneen führten sie in beinahe alle Länder Europas, nach Russland, in die USA, den Libanon und den Fernen Osten. 1996 erhielten sie als erstes Schweizer Ensemble eine Einladung zum «4th World Choral Symposium» in Sydney, woran sich eine Tournee durch Australien, Südkorea und nach Hongkong anschloss. Die Aufnahmen der Basler Madrigalisten erhielten diverse Auszeichnungen, darunter den «Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik», den «Choc de la Musique» und den «Diapason d’Or». Nebst wichtigen Förderpreisen werden sie unterstützt von den beiden Kantonen Basel-Landschaft und Basel-Stadt, von der Artephila Stiftung und weiteren Stiftungen.
The Basler Madrigalisten, founded by Fritz Näf, sing in a variety of formations, as soloists and various small vocal ensembles. Their extensive repertoire ranges from early Renaissance to modern times. The main focus of their work is studying and performing (including premieres) contemporary works and the revival of works from the 15th to the18th Century.
The Basler Madrigalisten have taken part in major music festivals all over the world. Concert tours have taken them to almost every country in Europe and to Russia, the USA, Lebanon, and the Far East. In 1996, they were the first Swiss ensemble to receive an invitation to the «4th World Choral Symposium» in Sydney, which they combined with a tour through Australia, South Korea and Hong Kong. The recordings of the Basler Madrigalisten have won numerous awards, including the «Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik», the «Choc de la Musique» and the «Diapason d’Or». In addition to major sponsorship awards, they receive support from the cantons of Basel-Landschaft and Basel-Stadt, the Artephila Stiftung and other foundations.
