Michel Dalberto studierte am Conservatoire National de Musique von Paris bei Vlado Perlemuter. Nachdem er zwei der wichtigsten internationalen Wettbewerbe gewonnen hatte – Clara Haskil im Jahr 1975 und Leeds im Jahr 1978 – begann er eine Laufbahn von weltweiter Bedeutung. Er gilt insbesondere als einer der besten Interpreten von Mozart und Schubert. Als angesehener Kammermusiker trat er u.a. mit Yuri Bashmet, Renaud und Gautier Capuçon und Paul Meyer auf. Als Solist arbeitet er mit Dirigenten wie Sir Colin Davis, Kurt Masur und Charles Dutoit. Michel Dalberto unterrichtet in Paris am Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse. Mit dem Bariton Stephan Genz hat er vor kurzem Schuberts «Winterreise» eingespielt (Editions La Dogana).

As a much respected chamber musician, he has performed with Bashmet, Renaud and Gautier Capuçon, Mork and Paul Meyer, among others. As a soloist, he has performed with conductors such as Leinsdorf, Sawallisch, Temirkanov, Sir Colin Davis, Masur and Dutoit. Michel Dalberto teaches in Paris at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse. He recently recorded Schubert's «Winterreise» with baritone Stephan Genz (La Dogana label).
