Seit nunmehr 29 Jahren begeistert das von Hansruedi Kämpfen gegründete Oberwalliser Vokalensemble (OVE) sein stetig wachsendes Publikum mit verschiedenartigen Konzerten und Aufführungen. Der Bund schrieb 1996 die Zeilen, welche noch heute ihre Gültigkeit haben: «Das Oberwalliser-Elite-Ensemble gestaltet mit den Können von Professionals, aber auch mit der Begeisterung von echten Amateuren.»
Seit 1989 ist das OVE regelmässig Preisträger bei nationalen und internationalen Chorwettbewerben. Neben CD-, Radio- und Fernsehaufnahmen sang es am Tibor Varga Festival in Sion, bei den Interlakner Festwochen, am Bachfestival Mulhouse (F), am Chorfestival in Jihlava (CZ), am Fest der Stimmen in Vorarlberg und am Festival Europa Cantat Barcelona. Im April 2003 sang es anlässlich des Lucerne Festivals zusammen mit dem Hilliard-Ensemble die Johannes-Passion von Arvo Pärt. 2001 wurde das Oberwalliser Vokalensemble mit dem Kulturpreis des Kantons Wallis ausgezeichnet.
The Oberwalliser Vokalensemble (OVE), founded by Hansruedi Kämpfen, has been enchanting its ever-growing audience with a wide range of concerts and performances for more than 29 years. In 1996 the music group wrote: "the Oberwalliser-Elite-Ensemble is characterised by the skills of professionals and the enthusiasm of amateurs - in the true sense of the word," something which still holds true today.
Since 1989, the OVE has won many national and international choral competitions. In addition to CD, radio and television recordings, they have performed at the Tibor Varga Festival in Sion, the Interlaken Music Festival, the Bach Festival at Mulhouse (F), the Choir Festival in Jihlava (CZ), the Fest der Stimmen in Voralberg, and at the Festival Europa Cantat in Barcelona. In 2003, they performed Arvo Pärt's St John Passion with the Hilliard Ensemble at the Lucerne Festival. In 2001, the Oberwalliser Vokalensemble was presented the Culture Award by the canton of Valais.
