Das Vocalconsort Berlin wurde 2003 von dem Kulturmanager Folkert Uhde gegründet und debütierte im selben Jahr erfolgreich bei den Innsbrucker Festwochen in Monteverdis «L’Orfeo» unter der Leitung von René Jacobs. Das in Berlin beheimatete Ensemble ist insbesondere auf frühbarocke und barocke Musik spezialisiert. Darüber hinaus präsentiert es Werke der Romantik und zeitgenössische Musik. Die variable Besetzung reicht vom Doppelquartett bis zur Mehrchörigkeit und vermag dabei gleichermaßen solistische Partien einzubeziehen, ob im Konzert als auch szenisch und auf der Opernbühne. Das homogene, dynamische Klangbild des Vocalconsorts Berlin findet sowohl in der Zusammenarbeit mit renommierten Dirigenten wie Marcus Creed, René Jacobs, Daniel Reuss, Olof Boman und Ottavio Dantone als auch mit exzellenten Orchestern wie der Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, der Akademia Bizantina, dem Kammerorchester Basel und der musikFabrik seine künstlerische Entsprechung. Für seine Einspielungen erhielt das Vocalconsort Berlin beretis zahlreiche Auszeichnungen, darunter den Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik 2008.
The Vocalconsort Berlin was founded by culture manager Folkert Uhde in 2003 and, in the same year, had its successful debut at the Innsbruck Festival Week in Claudio Monteverdi´s "L´Orfeo" under the direction of René Jacobs. The Berlin-based ensemble specialises particularly in Early baroque and Baroque music. They also perform works from the Romantic period and contemporary music. The variability and flexibility of the Vocalconsort´s composition, which can range from double quartet to multi-choir performance while at the same time allowing for the inclusion of solo performances, gives the Vocalconsort Berlin the ability to perform both in concert format as well as on the opera and theatrical stage. The pure, inspiring and dynamic sound of the Vocalconsort Berlin finds its artistic counterpart in the cooperation with renowned conductors such as Marcus Creed, René Jacobs, Jos van Immerseel, Gary Cooper, Olof Boman and Ottavio Dantone as well as with excellent orchestras such as the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, the Accademia Bizantina, the Basel Chamber Orchestra and musikFabrik. Vocalconsort Berlin has already received many awards for its recordings including the German Record Critics' Award in 2008.
