Programme 2010

Discovery

Discovery

For the first time, the Zermatt Festival has invited not only musicians, but also musicologists and historians as their guests, to give a series of pre-concert talks - presenting the opportunity for a mutual exchange of ideas. The talks are intended not only for serious classical music fans but also for anyone who wants to find out more about the works that are to be performed.

The concert programme of the sixth Zermatt Festival shows yet again that classical music is accessible to everyone: Over three weekends, major works of the classical repertoire as well as newer pieces will be performed. A feast for the senses with new insights into contemporary writing and music playing.

Pre-concert talk 3, 4, 10, 11 September  - 18:30 hrs
Grand Hotel Zermatterhof

Discovery Workshops at the Zermatt Festival! In addition to concerts, the Zermatt Festival organizes a series of activities for our young inquisitive festival visitors, lead by artists from a variety of disciplines.

Listen, play and create
This workshop with Yannick Nanette & Katherine Oggier Chanda, Valais School of Arts, offers 7 – 12 year-olds the opportunity to create both aural and visual sound worlds.
Firstly, the young participants will get to know the percussion instruments of the island of Mauritius, they will then go on a musical walk, looking for natural materials for an installation, suspending the elements in such a way as to allow them to move in the wind and create new sounds. The day culminates in a musical performance, showing the results of their musical and artistic experiences.

Samstag, 18 September 2010 – 09.00 - 17.00 hrs
